Avatar Games, one of the standout events of The Gathering, brings a unique blend of tribal competition and interactive audience engagement to life. Conceptualised by the  visual artist Bryn Oh, this adrenaline-fueled event sees 12 teams of three runners each, drawn from the different tribes, taking on an epic obstacle course in a battle for survival, glory, and tribal pride.

In a world where the apocalypse has left its mark, the course is as challenging as the environment around it. Runners, known as initiates, must brave a grueling post-apocalyptic gauntlet filled with dangerous traps, obstacles, and terrain that push their skills and endurance to the limit. But the greatest challenge comes from the audience, who take an active role in the event. Spectators, armed with shooting gear, aim to hinder the runners' progress by targeting them as they dash through the obstacles. The chaos and unpredictability introduced by this audience participation elevate the Avatar Games beyond a typical race, making it a test of both strategy and resilience.

One leaderboard will show the times of the fastest teams, while the other will display the most accurate audience shooters, rewarding both the runners' speed and the spectators' skill.
